Eco-friendly tourism

Thailand is placing its faith in eco-friendly tourism – Iniatives for the future of the industry

In an effort to promote conservation and sustainability, tourism businesses in Thailand, including a popular luxury hotel on Phi Phi Island, are actively embracing the sustainability movement. One such initiative is a garbage collection event organized for almost 400 divers from around the world. This event aimed to raise awareness among foreign visitors about the prioritization of conservation efforts in Thailand.

The Saii Phi Phi Island Village resort, located near Phuket, has taken steps to attract environmentally conscious travellers. They have established a Marine Discover Center that supports marine life facing depopulation due to over-tourism and offers guided tours focused on educating visitors about marine ecosystems and conservation. Nantiphat Saechao, a marine biologist at the centre, emphasizes the importance of continuing and expanding such activities to involve local businesses and hotels, allowing guests to feel inspired and satisfied by contributing to environmental preservation.
