Thailand Looks to Boost Domestic Tourism – Phuket Remains a Key Destination
At the end of 2024, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) made a significant push to boost tourism with a focus on not only attracting foreign travellers but Thai residents as well. This was seen in TAT’s strategy for the fourth quarter last year with various events and activities which were expected to help push domestic tourism revenue to the 1 trillion baht target. To meet this end, key initiatives included the Winter Festival which put the spotlight on the ‘7 Wonders of Thailand’ with events held across the country from November to December 2024 covering aspects like culture, sports, food, music and more.
The Thai island of Phuket was a key destination as it hosted the “Southern Ways of Life” Loi Krathong Festival (15th November), Laguna Phuket Triathlon (17th November) and Phuket Festival (8th to 10th December) in 2024. This year too, it will offer plenty of diverse events and festivals which can be experienced while staying at properties like SAii Laguna Phuket. Those based at such a Bangtao Beach luxury resort in Phuket can look forward to experiencing the best of the island and what it has planned for 2025.
