Thailand Mulls Extending 45-Day Visa Exemption to Draw More Visitors in 2023

As part of its initiative to encourage more visitors to the country, Thailand introduced a scheme last October offering an extension of its visa-free exemptions. This included extending visa exemptions for 64 countries to 45 days from the previous 30 days; while this scheme was set to end on 31st March 2023, due to its popularity and help in bringing in many tourists, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has proposed extending it till the end of the year. It is expected that such initiatives can help the country reach its 2023 arrivals target of 25 million.

The year has already gotten off to a positive start with Thailand recording 5.5 million international travellers in the first three months. According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the tourism revenue generated during this time was 215 billion baht. This bodes well for the rest of the year as more visitors arrive once more to enjoy destinations like Koh Phangan. Resort properties beside this island’s idyllic beaches such as Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas provide safe accommodation and the chance to experience the best of the country again.
