A festive revival that reaffirmed Thailand’s global travel appeal
Thailand witnessed a significant rise in international arrivals during the 2026 Lunar New Year period, marking a confident rebound for the tourism sector. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), more than 30,000 travellers entered the country daily at peak times, with over 241,000 visitors recorded between February 13 and 22. The majority arrived from China, reflecting renewed travel confidence after years of restricted movement.
Bangkok remained at the centre of celebrations, with Yaowarat and Ratchaprasong illuminated by decorations, lion dances, and cultural performances. Hotels and serviced residences, including Fraser Suites Sukhumvit, reported high occupancy as families sought convenient city stays close to key festivities and family friendly things to do in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, Pattaya drew holidaymakers with its beaches and resorts, offering a balance of relaxation and entertainment. Coordinated national campaigns and streamlined travel services supported the seasonal boom, reinforcing Thailand’s position as a leading Asian destination.
