A vibrant blend of heritage, flavour, and modern living continues to define Asia’s leading travel destination
Bangkok has been recognised as the Best City in Asia for 2026 in the DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards, according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). BMA spokesperson Ekwaranyu Amrapal confirmed on 9 March that the city topped regional voting, surpassing Tokyo in second place and Singapore in third.
The result reflects Bangkok’s strong appeal across several areas. The city is celebrated for its striking contrast between tradition and modern life, where historic temples and floating markets sit alongside contemporary shopping centres and high-rise developments. It is also widely regarded as a leading culinary destination, offering everything from popular street food to innovative dining experiences shaped by modern chefs.
Travel diversity further enhances its global reputation, with a wide range of accommodation options and cultural districts. Bangkok hotel news highlights continued hospitality growth, including developments such as Maitria Residence Rama 9 Bangkok, reinforcing the city’s strong position in regional tourism.
