Thailand Resumes Test & Go Programme

Country Hopeful for Increased Arrivals

The tourism industry in Thailand has cause to be optimistic as the country resumed its Test & Go programme which offers fully vaccinated travellers a chance to visit once more. Initially suspended at the end of last year due to the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the programme was re-launched on 1st February 2022; it will be hoped that this will lead to a rise in tourists and sustained growth throughout the year.

There have been some updates made to the arrival guidelines under this scheme. Fully vaccinated travellers must stay at an SHA Extra Plus certified hotel and take to a day one and day five PCR test; properties include the likes of Maitria Hotel Sukhumvit 18 which offer special packages for these travellers too. Before arriving at such a hotel in Sukhumvit, Bangkok, tourists who land in the country must also have a negative result of a PCR test conducted within 72 hours before embarkation; they must additionally have medical insurance with a minimum coverage of $50,000.
