A positive sign for the tourism industry in Thailand, tourist arrivals to the country showed a 5.6% increase when compared to the same period last year. According to the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, a total of 26.9 million people visited the country between 1st January and 11th October; this was a 5.6% increase over the numbers recorded the previous year during the same time period. Thailand has steadily expanded its appeal to global travellers for business, pleasure and hosting MICE events be it at properties in the bustling capital of Bangkok, an island resort in Phuket or a hotel Khon Kaen has to offer such as AVANI Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre. The increase in tourist arrivals to Thailand also saw a 7.6% rise in tourism revenue when compared to last year, with this year’s figure totalling 1.37 trillion baht so far.
