In a recent online edition of Travel Trade Weekly, the General Manager of Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, Thomas Fehlbier was featured in a special Q & A session. When asked about business overall during the first half of the year, Mr Fehlbier commented how 2017 had been one of the most successful for this resort cum hotel in Doha with increased occupancy including many guests from Oman and Kuwait. On the question regarding the future of the tourism industry in Qatar, he stated that such moves as providing visa upon arrival have been a boon to the tourism industry while adding that the development of activities and facilities for tourists in Qatar would help to attract more visitors. When asked about strategies to draw non-GCC travellers he added that the resort has pursued such initiatives as having a special “I Love Qatar” summer promotion that offered exclusive discounts to guests.
