Thailand Welcomes Digital Nomads: New Visa Scheme To Transform Remote Working

Thailand recently launched a new visa program that allows foreign tourists to legally stay in the country while working remotely. The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) was introduced to encourage remote workers, digital nomads and freelancers to work while in the country and thereby potentially contribute towards economic growth in Thailand.

The DTV document is valid for 5 years and allows such tourists to travel and work in the country for a maximum of 180 days per entry. According to the deputy director-general of consular affairs in Thailand, approximately 1200 DTVs have already been approved from 47 consulates and embassies.

Under the new visa program, tourists can choose to enjoy their stay at any place in Thailand including a hotel near Phuket Airport or anywhere else that provides comfortable rooms like  Avani+ Mai Khao Phuket Suites with relaxing conditions for remote working.
