Thailand’s economy falters – Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines grow faster

Post-pandemic recovery has proven to be a tumultuous task for several regions, with rising global political tensions and many struggling with unemployment. Within Southeast Asia, Thailand has struggled with an increase of only 1.9 percent in the last year, as reported by Al Jazeera. In comparison, its neighbours experienced more successful economic growth, with Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines experiencing a recovery of 5 percent or higher.

Despite this, the influx of tourists within 2024 alone has already surpassed 10 million visitors. Reportedly having generated a revenue of 518 billion baht already, Thailand may already be on the path to recovery, thanks to the tourism sector alone. Bangkok, the most visited city in the country, remains a favorite among tourists globally. A stay at a Bangkok city hotel offers visitors the convenience of several malls, markets, and historical sites only within walking distance. The Pathuwam Princess Hotel is located near the infamous Pratu Nam market and several MRT stations.
