Thailand’s Economy Shows Growth – Exports and Tourism Remain Key Factors

As reported on the Al Jazeera news website on 21st February 2022, Thailand’s economy registered a fourth-quarter growth in 2021; this was faster than previously expected and was due to such factors as export earnings and tourism following the reopening of the nation’s international borders last year. Thailand is expecting approximately 5.5 million tourists this year which will be a driving force as it looks to achieve increased growth.

While the nation restarted its Test & Go programme in February this year offering quarantine-free holidays for fully vaccinated tourists, the entry requirements were further eased in March; while such travellers must still submit to an RT-PCR test on day one, the second RT-PCR test on day five has been replaced with a self-test using an antigen test kit. Such travellers must also have an initial booking at an SHA Extra Plus certified property which can be found at popular destinations like Bangkok; city hotel options here include Pathumwan Princess Hotel which offers safe accommodation and convenient access to the best the Thai capital has to offer.
