Thailand’s Reopening Offers Renewed Hopes – A Much-Needed Tourism Boost

On 1st November last year, Thailand reopened its borders which offered its tourism industry a vital boost. As part of this initiative, those who were fully vaccinated and arrived from a nation or territory on an approved list had the chance to enjoy quarantine-free holidays under the Test & Go programme. Fully vaccinated tourists from destinations not on the approved list were given the chance to initially visit 17 select provinces that were part of the Blue Zone scheme.

It is hoped that such measures will lead to an increase in arrivals this year as travellers once more head to Thai tourist hotspots such as Koh Samui; the island which initially reopened under the “Samui Plus Sandbox” initiative in July 2021, continues to be popular with holidaymakers looking to enjoy everything from pristine coastlines to stays at a beachfront pool villa; Koh Samui also offers safe accommodation with properties like the SHA Extra+ certified Avani+ Samui Resort adopting strict health and hygiene protocols.
