The Dalai Lama Gives Teachings in Bodhgaya – Buddhism’s Most Significant Individual Graces the Birthplace of the Philosophy.

The Dalai Lama, who the Tibetan people believe to be the incarnation of the Bodhisattva of compassion, conducted a series of teachings at Bodh Gaya which is believed to be the most sacred of Buddhist religious sites. The teachings were conducted at a venue which boasted a capacity of 35,000. Such a massive crowd would’ve been good news for a modern Bodhgaya hotel situated close by, such as Oaks Bodhgaya.

A registration process was required for any devotees who were not from the local areas, and 13 staff from the Department of Security were present to conduct and assist with this procedure. During his visit, the Dalai Lama also commemorated the recently constructed Thai monastery in Bodhgaya, as well as attend the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Central University of Tibetan Studies.
