On 1st January 2022, the Maldives began its “Golden Year of Tourism” marking 50 years since the inception of the local tourism industry. As part of this occasion, the first tourist of the year was also given a special welcome at the Velana International Airport; the passenger, Georgina Canning from the United Kingdom, who had been here last year too, was visiting with her partner.
As part of the event, she was gifted with a full board stay for five nights at Adaaran Prestige Vadoo that’s part of Adaaran Resorts. Apart from accommodation at one of the best resorts in Maldives, she also received gifts from the Ministry of Tourism and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation amongst others. Despite the pandemic, the country remains a globally noteworthy tourism success story achieving 1.3 million arrivals in 2021 and it will hope to attract more visitors during its Golden Year of Tourism in 2022.
