Pack your bags and headed off to the golden East coast of paradise Sri Lanka to soak up some sun, and surfed to your heart’s content while having the time of your life at Arugam Bay hotels such as the Kottukal Beach House by Jetwing, Arugambay. But if you’re worried that no more excitement is on the way with the end of Surf season, you’ve got it wrong as November is the time of the great Festival of Lights- Deepavali!
Deepavali or Diwali is a Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. It also symbolises the triumph of victory of light over darkness which is why on the day of Deepavali Hindus set alight many oil lamps in and around their houses. Sri Lanka celebrates Deepawali with many traditional aspects of the festival such as games, fireworks, singing and dancing which you can take part in as well! So after all that rambling on the waves get ready to be a part of the joyous festivities of the Deepavali festival which falls on 11th of November this year.
