The Maldives and India and Strengthen Partnership

Plans to Boost Connectivity

The Maldives and India recently announced they would be joining in a partnership to strengthen ties and connectivity as well as boost the tourism industry. This was highlighted on an online article published this August by Business Traveller. As part of the initiative between the two Indian Ocean nations, air services are expected to take place under an “air travel bubble” which would connect both countries.

Indians can look forward to planning holidays at resorts Maldives has to offer including properties like Niyama Private Islands Maldives; on the other hand, the many Maldivians who head to India for medical treatments can continue to do so as such initiatives will continue to enable cross-border travel amidst stringent health protocols. As part of the bilateral partnership, India will also fund US$500 million for a package to implement the Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) which will further enhance connectivity with the Maldives.
