The COVID -19 global pandemic passed a direct challenge to the tourism sector in the Maldives. The border closure for international tourists prevailed for nearly 4 months since 27th March 2020. However, with the successful control of the situation, the government of the Maldives decided to lift the restrictions allowing tourists to come and visit the country once again.
The Immigration Department has declared that this initiative attracted 3054 foreigners to the Maldives during July and August 2020. Most of these tourists have arrived from Britain and the USA and all Maldives villas the likes of Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas have welcomed them to provide safe accommodation facilities. International flights to the Maldives also are increasing gradually allowing more people to explore this tropical destination in the future.
