The Maldives continues to bask in the glow of a resurgent tourism industry, with visitor arrivals reaching impressive heights. As of 13th April 2024, the island nation has welcomed a remarkable 682,262 tourists, reflecting a surge of 14.3% compared to the same period last year according to the Ministry of Tourism. This influx is driven in part by China, which at the time was the top tourism source market, contributing around 10.8% of arrivals. The United Kingdom had also climbed the ranks, securing the second position, followed closely by Russia.
Beyond its undeniable allure as a luxurious getaway, the country offers much to discover for nature enthusiasts as well. Pristine coral reefs, teeming with vibrant marine life, form the backbone of a rich ecosystem in the Maldives. Resort deals on private island resorts including NH Collection Maldives Havodda Resort give travellers a chance to enjoy an immersive experience with opportunities for snorkelling and diving amidst this underwater wonderland. With such allures, the Maldives is perfectly poised to achieve its ambitious target of welcoming two million tourists by year-end.
