The Maldives which opened its borders in July last year continues to see tourists arriving in the country. To encourage more travellers, the country officially launched Maldives Border Miles on 1st January 2021, which was billed as the first tier-based travel loyalty programme in the world. Currently, all accommodation options are available for tourists be it at a hotel, guesthouse, liveaboard or beach resort Maldives has to offer.

While there is no compulsory quarantine procedure on arrival, those entering must show a negative result of a COVID-19 PCR test taken 96 hours before departure. Additionally, all accommodation providers including private resorts like Embudu Village follow strict health and hygiene protocols and have adopted social distancing measures; these are all in line with the guidelines of the Health Protection Agency of Maldives and the World Health Organisation ensuring a safe stay.
