The Maldives Is Open for Tourists Again – Optimistic Signs of Recovery

Last month saw the Maldives reopening its borders for international tourism once more following months of travel restrictions due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The country officially opened for tourists on 15th July 2020 with Maldives villas at properties the likes of Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives, being amongst the first available accommodation options.

Travellers arriving at the Velana International Airport in Male will be issued a 30-day tourist visa and do not have to undergo a mandatory quarantine process; they will, however, have to fill out health declaration cards. In case an individual shows symptoms of COVID-19, he / she will have to bear the cost of a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test and will be taken to a designated facility. Additionally, each private resort in the Maldives has stringent health and hygiene protocols in place to help ensure the safety of guests and staff alike.
