The Maldives has always been a well-known place for holidaymakers around the world, and this popularity is going from strength to strength. This is evident in the increase in arrivals each year, which has been seen in 2025 as well. According to statistics released by the Maldivian Ministry of Tourism, the country welcomed 488,878 tourists from 1st January to 9th March this year, an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period in 2024. Such visitors enjoyed stays at luxury private island resorts like The Residence Maldives Dhigurah, which will no doubt attract more travellers in the months to come.
In terms of the leading tourism source markets, as of 9th March 2025, China retained its position at the top for the second consecutive month with a market share of 12.8%. The country can continue to expect more arrivals, including those in search of a resort-based summer offer in Maldives. This all bodes well as this tropical paradise looks to end 2025 on a high with even more visitors than last year.
