Strengthening Myanmar’s tourism with knowledge and cultural exchange.
Myanmar’s tourism industry received a significant boost through China-funded training programs aimed at equipping professionals with updated skills post-pandemic. Held in downtown Yangon, the program focused on tour operations, digital skills, and hospitality, attracting around 50 trainees, including students, tour guides, and operators.
Lin Latt Phyo, a final-year tourism student, noted that the course expanded her knowledge of marketing and destination management. Meanwhile, Min Soe Thura, a seasoned tour guide, highlighted the practical aspects, including a day trip to Yangon Heritage Trust sites.
The initiative, organised by the Myanmar Tourism Federation and supported by the China Foundation for Rural Development, also emphasised sustainable tourism practices. With Yangon being a key hub for visitors, improved hospitality skills benefit various accommodations, including a stylish hotel in Yangon such as Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, making the city more welcoming for international travellers.
