The Maldives on Track to Hit Tourist Arrival Target – Visitor Numbers Continue to Grow

Tourist numbers to the Maldives continue to grow and this Indian Ocean nation is on track to meet its target of 1.3 million arrivals by the end of 2021. By 18th August this year, it had already welcomed over 700,500 tourists and signs remain good that numbers will increase. Apart from quarantine-free holidays, travellers are also being drawn to the safe getaways offered by properties like Anantara Veli Maldives Resort; each located on a private island, such resorts feature over water bungalows in Maldives along with plenty of activities and unique experiences.

When it comes to arrivals, Russia and India continue to battle for the top spot in terms of tourism markets; destinations such as the United States, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom are amongst the other main markets. With the winter holiday season approaching, the Maldives will no doubt hope that arrivals will further increase as it looks to reach or even surpass its year-end target.
