The Maldives Open to Those with Negative COVID-19 PCR Tests – A Safe Holiday Getaway

The Maldives is open to any traveller who arrives with a negative COVID-19 PCR test (taken within 96 hours before departure); this was reiterated in July this year by Abdullah Shahid, the current Maldivian Foreign Minister and the President-elect of the United Nations General Assembly on his visit to India. Initially, the Maldives had temporarily closed its borders to South Asian nations including India from 13th May 2021; however, due to improvements in the pandemic situation in these destinations as well as the Maldives’ effective vaccination drives, these restrictions were removed from 15th July 2021.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid further went on to highlight that the country had implemented stringent health protocols that helped assure the wellbeing of travellers too. This includes stays at some of the best resorts in Maldives, each located on a separate island which adds to the safety factor; such resorts including Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives have adopted enhanced hygiene and cleanliness standards along with comprehensive sanitisation measures as well.
