The Maldives puts niche markets at the centre of 2020 tourism strategy

As 2020 keeps rolling forward, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation have begun to implement a new tourism strategy that aims to promote the islands’ rich culture and natural beauty. In essence, the MMPRC hopes to broaden the perception most tourists have of Maldives – a destination seen traditionally as a high-end resort location ideal for honeymooning couples. The managing director of the MMPRC mentioned that while the Maldives continues to be a popular destination for luxury vacations and honeymoons, they have seen an increase in family visits plus various visitors who come to experience Maldivian culture or activities such as diving.

The MMPRC hopes to improve its tourism rates by showcasing the Maldivian way of life – from cuisine to traditional rituals. What’s more, if you’re a hotel or a Maldives beach resort, the MMPRC is encouraging the creation of sites that will work as ideal venues for business functions – a fact that establishments like The Residence Maldives Dhigurah should take into consideration.
