The Maldives Records Increasing Tourist Arrivals – Encouraging Signs for 2022

Amongst the most remarkable tourism success stories that came out of the pandemic, the Maldives is continuing to show increased growth with more arrivals this year. From 1st January to 16th March 2022, the country had already seen the arrival of 324,742 tourists which was a significant increase in comparison to the same period last year. The country will expect this trend to continue as it looks to reach its target of 1.6 million arrivals for 2022.

This year also happens to mark the nation’s Golden Jubilee of Tourism as it celebrates the 50th anniversary since tourism began here. Travellers have much to enjoy as well and apart from quarantine-free holidays, another draw is the chance to enjoy safe stays in a private island resort such as SAii Lagoon Maldives. Additionally, at such properties in the Maldives, events ranging from weddings to meetings and incentives can be hosted too, adding to the destination’s appeal.
