The Maldives Records the Highest Number of Daily Arrivals in February 2021 – With 4,700 Tourists

The Maldives, which is a heavily tourism-reliant nation in the Indian Ocean, recorded a total of 4,700 tourist arrivals, on 12th February this year. The country saw the arrival of 124,753 tourists by February 12th this year; a 45.6% decrease in relation to the arrivals during the same period last year. The decline was attributed to the prevailing travel restrictions on a global level in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the goal remains to attract approximately 1.5 million tourists to many a luxury resort Maldives has to offer such as Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas. In order to achieve this, the Maldives must maintain an average of 400 daily tourist arrivals throughout the year.

Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Minister of Tourism, has stated that the tourism outlook looks quite promising due to the progress of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination.
