The Maldives Removed from the UK’s Red List – More Tourists Now Expected

The UK Government removed the Maldives from its red list on 22nd September 2021, easing initial travel restrictions; the move meant that those returning from this popular holiday destination would not have to undergo quarantine on arrival. Following this announcement, the Maldives was initially moved to the amber list but on 4th October 2021, the UK scrapped its amber and green lists altogether; additionally, from this date onwards, fully vaccinated travellers did not have to undergo a PCR test on arrival.

All this has meant that those from the UK now find it easier to travel to the Maldives; villas, be they beach or overwater options, are amongst the popular choices for travellers as are private island resorts like Kuramathi Maldives that offer safe stays. This comes as good news for the Maldives tourism industry too as the UK is amongst the top source markets, while the country is also looking to achieve its target of 1.3 million arrivals for 2021.
