The Maldives Stays Open for Foreign Tourists

New Procedures for Arrivals

Initiated on 15th July 2020, the Maldives continues to stay open for foreign tourists as private island resorts follow a systematic reopening plan which will continue this month too. With the opening of travel borders, the country has seen a slow but steady influx of tourists returning to this popular holiday destination. The procedures for arrivals have been amended slightly as well; as of 10th September, foreign visitors need to produce a negative PCR test for COVID-19 when they land (it has to have been issued 72 hours before departure).

While screening procedures have also been put in place at the international airport, travellers can expect to find comprehensive safety and health protocols at their luxury hotel in Maldives as well. This includes private island resorts the likes of Velassaru Maldives which have enhanced sanitation and cleaning procedures and trained staff on hand to ensure the necessary protocols are followed.
