The Maldives Surpasses Entire 2021 Arrivals Total – Tourism Industry Continues to Shine

The Maldives recently surpassed the entire arrivals figure for 2021, another indicator that the tourism industry in the country is going from strength to strength. As per statistics released by the nation’s Ministry of Tourism, as of the 24th of September 2023, it had welcomed 1,331,310 travellers for this year; this was more than the 1,321,937 arrivals recorded for the whole of 2021. The country remains on track to achieve its year-end arrivals target which is 1.9 million.

By 24th September, this year, the top tourist market in terms of arrivals was Russia, taking over from India which narrowly dropped to second place. China which removed its travel restrictions this year has performed strongly and ranked in third place at the time when it came to tourism source markets for this Indian Ocean nation.
