The Maldives Tightens its Health Protocols for Tourists after Many Tested Positive

The Maldives has taken steps to increase their security in terms of COVID-19 safety after the country saw a peak in infections at several resorts. The scenic archipelago in the Indian Ocean reopened its Maldives luxury resort islets that house properties such as Kandolhu Maldives on July 15th this year and travellers were able to enter the country without having to quarantine. Since then, several individuals from different resorts were tested positive, after which, the country introduced new guidelines to tighten the health protocols in the matter of entering the country – All foreign tourists will be required to produce a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival.

The government has a prevailing night curfew in its capital and other islands in the neighbourhood that was imposed from early August to control the dramatic climb in COVID-19 cases in the Maldives.
