The Maldives Welcomes Increasing Tourist Arrivals – Numbers Continue to Grow

The Maldives has seen a steady rise in international arrivals this year, making it amongst the most remarkable success stories in tourism following the COVID-19 pandemic. As reported on the TTG Asia website, as of 12th April, the country had welcomed 339,962 tourists in 2021; this was close to last year’s figure of 382,762 from January to 27th March 2020 when the borders were closed due to the pandemic. The numbers have been steadily increasing as well, which puts the nation on track to achieving its objective of reaching 1.5 million arrivals in 2021.

Since the country reopened its borders in July 2020, travellers from around the world including India, Russia, Ukraine and Germany have arrived to enjoy holidays in the Maldives.
