The Maldives Wins Big at World Travel Awards – Named World’s Leading Destination Yet Again

Topping off another remarkable year of tourism, the Maldives was among the big winners at the World Travel Awards 2022 securing the prestigious World’s Leading Destination for the third consecutive year. The main awards ceremony which took place on 11th November 2022 in Muscat also saw the country, which is known for offering luxury travel experiences, walk away with other accolades too; these included the World’s Leading Tourist Board (for the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation) and World’s Leading Seaplane Operator (for Trans Maldivian Airways).

Such awards helped to further cement the nation’s reputation as a top choice for holidays at private island resorts from hospitality brands such as Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas that provide truly unique getaways. Of course, these accolades were not the only ones secured by the Maldives last year either. In October 2022, it was named the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination at the Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony that’s also part of the World Travel Awards; here, it was also named as the Leading Dive Destination and the Leading Beach Destination in the Indian Ocean as well.
