The New Normal After Lockdown – The Plastic Divider Economy

Over the months, Myanmar has shut down its schools, bars and restaurants in an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The government has slowly started lifting restrictions since the 14th of May and life is slowly returning to normal with businesses opening up and many a Yangon hotel considering how to approach this new normal.

Supermarkets have begun extending their hours of service, running with minimal staff on more rotating shifts with temperature sensors outside and sanitiser and masks being mandatory. Restaurants are investing in the plastic divider, deep clean hygiene and mostly discourages you from eating out if the option to dine in is available. Hotels the likes of Pan Pacific Yangon are also retraining their staff on hygiene in housekeeping and limiting the capacity of rooms and restaurant tables to encourage social distancing.
