The Second Coming of a Paradise Island

Sri Lanka Returns

Tourism in Sri Lanka makes a comeback, after the April attacks that shook the island causing a sharp decline in the number of tourists visiting the country. The attacks brought Sri Lanka’s once-thriving tourism industry to its feet, however, there is a definite and clear growth in tourists visiting the island, dubbed the ‘pearl of the Indian Ocean’, 8 months after, against all odds.

This is great news for Sri Lanka but is also a great lesson for the travel industry in how to rebound after adversity. Tourism is Sri Lanka’s third-largest foreign earner, and with the recent increase in properties the likes of AVANI Kalutara resort, which is regarded as a premier Kalutara hotel and other similar hotels dotting most parts of the country, no hope is lost for this island that keeps fighting.
