Sri Lanka’s Ultra Endurance Cycle Race

A race that featured a route from the southernmost point of Sri Lanka to the island’s northernmost tip was successfully held last month. This was the second edition of Race the Pearl which is an endurance cycle race that covered a route of around 600 km. Dubbed as a 24 hour ultra race, it took place over two days (13th to 14th September) as part of a 48 hour challenge which included a sleep break in Dambulla.

Race the Pearl’s second edition began from Point Dondra and went past destinations such as Tangalle home to Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, Suriyawewa and Wellawaya which was the first pitstop. Set amidst stunning natural landscapes where you will also find Sri Lanka luxury resorts, the race continued to its second pitstop in Dambulla followed by the third pitstop in Vavuniya before ending at Point Pedro. Proceeds from Race the Pearl were used to support the Wheels For Wheels Foundation which helps provide children suffering from cerebral palsy with wheelchairs.
