The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance 2019 – When the Dragon Arrives in Hong Kong!

A lively spectacle that is very much a part of local culture, the annual Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance is all set to take place this year as well. A part of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, this dance can be witnessed from 12th to 14th September 2019 at Tai Hang in Causeway Bay, within easy reach of Travelodge Kowloon. Those staying at such Tsim Sha Tsui hotels will also be able to catch a performance at Victoria Park scheduled to take place on 13th September.

The origins of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance date back to the 19th century when locals performed a dragon dance to successfully ward off a plague. The tradition has continued over the centuries and today it is an integral part of the festivities that are associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival.
