The UAE’s Tourism & Travel Sector Continues to Shine – Record-Breaking Growth & Development

The 2024 Economic Impact Research by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) paints a glowing picture of the UAE’s Tourism & Travel sector, revealing a record-breaking year in 2023. Highlighted on the Breaking Travel News website on 18th April 2024, the report showcases the sector’s remarkable growth, surpassing previous benchmarks.

Last year, the sector’s growth stood at 26%, contributing AED 220 billion to the UAE’s GDP, a remarkable 11.7% of the economy. This surpasses the record in 2019 by nearly 15%, solidifying tourism’s key role in the economic framework of the country.

Looking ahead, the WTTC forecasts continued growth for the sector in 2024. The GDP contribution is expected to reach over AED 236 billion, with spending by international visitors projected at AED 192 billion which will be an increase of nearly 10%. Employment within the sector is also anticipated to surge by over 23,500 jobs, reaching close to 833,000. By 2034, the WTTC predicts the annual GDP contribution of the Tourism & Travel sector to climb to over AED 275 billion.
