The Updated Sandbox Rules for Travellers to Thailand

Great news for tourists travelling to Thailand: The travellers are not required to go through pretravel testing. Upon completing five days within the Sandbox destinations, they can travel domestically within the country. After scraping the Test & Go scheme for international travellers, the Kingdom decided to adopt the simplified statuses of “vaccinated” and “unvaccinated.” Whilst the online pre-registration system — the Thailand Pass — will remain, the paperwork has been updated to be more simple. International travellers entering Thailand by air no longer need to take an on-arrival PCR test if they are fully vaccinated. However, Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) recommends that vaccinated travellers take an ATK test on day 5. All unvaccinated travellers with a negative PCR test result within 72 hours before departure via Thailand Pass will be treated similarly to vaccinated travellers. If a traveller is entering by land and staying for no more than two days are not required to register for Thailand Pass or insurance, whereas long-term travellers by land must register for Thailand Pass and insurance. The minimum necessary health insurance coverage is reduced from US$20,000 to US$10,000 for all travellers by air and land, too. Now international travellers entering Thailand can easily pick a Koh Samui resort such as the luxury Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort and travel easily across the country.
