Tourism-dependent Mauritius reopens to vaccinated visitors – A paradise calls!

Mauritius is a country that is highly dependant on the tourism industry. Before the pandemic hit the country and its economy, 10% of the GDP was contributed by the tourism industry. Mauritius had to keep its boundaries closed to all tourists for 16 months. The borders were reopened only in July 2021, and this was indeed great news for all 5-star hotels in Mauritius the likes of The Residence Mauritius.

The country will be first opened to fully vaccinated travellers, and they will also have to stay at reserved hotels for 14 days. All travellers will have to present a negative PCR test result upon arrival, and if the stay is over 14 days, travellers will be allowed to travel freely around the country after one more PCR test is done. However, the Mauritius local community will achieve herd immunity in October, and restrictions will be subjected to change depending on the situation.
