Tourism in Oman Continues to Surge Ahead – Hospitality Sector Reaching New Heights

Following Oman’s decision in 2023 to offer visa-free entry to citizens of over 100 countries, tourism in the nation has witnessed a remarkable upsurge this year. As highlighted on the Gulf News website in July 2024, the total number of hotel guests experienced a substantial 13.7% growth during the first five months compared to the same period in the previous year.

This positive trend is further accentuated by a notable 19.6% increase in the number of European visitors during the same timeframe. Beyond hotels, the demand for alternative accommodations including apartments in Muscat has also been on the rise. This includes those on offer at properties like Citadines Al Ghubrah Muscat, strategically located near the city’s central business district, which have become preferred choices for both leisure and business travellers.

Oman’s impressive growth in attracting more European tourists and robust domestic and regional visitor numbers align with the broader strategy of expanding tourist demographics and fortifying the hospitality industry. The country’s recent “Change the Atmosphere” summer promotional campaign, and the popularity of the Dhofar Khareef season have significantly contributed to this success as well.
