Tourism in Phuket Back on Track – Thai Island Expects More Travellers After Songkran

Following a notable recovery last year which saw arrivals steadily increase, the tourism industry of the popular Thai island of Phuket is expecting the positive trend to continue this year too. The winter season from last November to March this year has seen more travellers arrive from Northern European, Scandinavian, and Eastern European countries, especially Russia. Visitor numbers again picked up last month during the Songkran Festival, the traditional Thai New Year from the 13th to the 15th of April with more than 200,000 tourists.

While the current period is typically part of the low season, Phuket is getting ready to welcome additional tourists from other parts of the world. This includes those from China who are expected to become the island’s leading source market by the middle of this year. Additionally, visitors from the Middle East, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and India are also expected to boost arrivals during this time. Such travellers have much to look forward to here once more including memorable stays overlooking the ocean at a luxury resort. Phuket offers such idyllic getaways at locations like Bangtao Beach where one can stay at properties like SAii Laguna Phuket and experience the best of this island paradise.
