Tourism Industry Back on Track in the Maldives

While tourism in the Maldives was severely affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is slowly but surely getting back on track. On 15th July this year, the country began a systematic reopening of hotels and resorts coinciding with the opening up of its borders. Those arriving from abroad and looking to stay at a private island resort in Maldives do not have to undergo mandatory quarantine or pay additional fees; they do, however, have to fill out and submit health declaration cards.

As part of the country’s plan of kick-starting tourism, properties have been opening in stages. This month, 29 more are set to reopen and in October, accommodation options the likes of Reethi Faru Resort will once again welcome guests. Additionally, all resorts will follow strict health and safety guidelines and protocols that have been put in place by the Ministry of Tourism.
