Victoria in Australia is hoping to get its tourism industry back on track by drawing in residents and out of state visitors. A lot of this depends on the prevailing pandemic situation within the state and any restrictions that are imposed. For example, with the policies that came into effect from 28th July 2021, the previous 5 km travel limit was removed, while unrestricted movement between regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne was permitted too. This meant that domestic travellers could stay at hotels in Melbourne, Australia and experience the best of the city once more.
It was also announced that Zoos Victoria was offering free admission for children under 16 years on weekends and Victorian government school and public holidays at certain attractions; these included Melbourne Zoo within easy reach of Pan Pacific Melbourne as well as the Werribee Open Range Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary. With access to regional Victoria also opened, tourism operators in the Geelong region were expecting more visitors too including those looking to host destination weddings.
