Tourism Minister of Thailand Assures Foreigners of Their Safety Following Bangkok Bombings

Following the bombings that took place in Bangkok in August, Phiphat Ratchakitprakan, who is the Tourism and Sports Minister in Thailand, was quick to reassure tourists of their safety. He did so on the same day of the bombings (2nd August) which saw several devices exploding in the capital; coinciding with an ASEAN event that was taking place at the time, the explosions did not claim any lives though four people were injured.

Tourism plays a major role in Thailand’s economy with the capital being one of the popular destinations for foreigners; they can look forward to enjoying everything from sightseeing and nightlife to a Chao Phraya River cruise in Bangkok offered by the likes of Manohra Cruises. Following the bombings, the Thai government has taken steps to ensure the safety of travellers with officials belonging to agencies of the tourism ministry being sent to important tourist destinations.
