Tourism Recovery in the Maldives Continues – Country Looks to Attract Diverse Travellers

The Maldives has continued its amazing tourism recovery since it reopened its international borders with the arrival numbers showing a remarkable increase. In July 2022, over 900,000 tourists had already visited the country which is targeting to achieve around 1.6 million visitors by year’s end. At the time, India was the top source market followed by the United Kingdom and Russia respectively. For safe holidays in the Maldives, 5-star resorts continue to be a top choice for tourists who can enjoy stays at private island properties like Amilla Maldives Resort & Residences that cater to couples and families alike.

Interestingly, this Indian Ocean nation is also looking to draw more visitors by expanding its reach to niche segments including differently abled travellers. According to Naushad Mohamed, the Deputy Tourism Minister of the Maldives, the country is planning to also promote culture tourism, sports tourism, and business events as well.
