Tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka are on the rise despite the economic crisis – the island to see more tourists

Sri Lanka just as in other countries in the world faced an economic crisis after the pandemic. The island’s situation worsened with the political unrest in the country. Nonetheless, the tourist industry in Sri Lanka managed to strive through it all. In 2022, Sri Lanka saw over 700,000 arrivals. This is a huge increase when compared with the numbers from 2021.

Many Pasikuda beach hotels are still seeing an increasing number of bookings. Resorts like Amethyst have seen many Russian and Indian guests at the beginning of the year. With the heavy promotional campaigns taking place in India and Europe, Sri Lanka is bound to see an even bigger increase in the number of arrivals this year. The destination is being promoted as a wellness retreat destination, romantic escape, family holiday destination and an eco-friendly and sporty place to visit in 2023.
