Tourists Continue to Arrive in Sri Lanka – Destination Looks to Draw More Arrivals

Despite facing economic and political challenges this year, Sri Lanka continues to attract tourists from around the world looking to enjoy this popular tropical island. Even though arrival numbers had decreased in May and June, during the first three weeks of July this year, the country recorded more than 25,000 tourists which was a promising sign. Such travellers have much to look forward to including experiencing the nation’s famed south coast on a stay at Kalutara Beach hotels; these properties like the ‘Safe & Secure’ certified Turyaa Kalutara have stringent health and hygiene measures in place too so guests can rest easy on their visit.

Up to 17th July 2022, the island had reached a total of 436,921 arrivals; as stated by Harin Fernando, the Tourism Minister, also in July, Sri Lanka was looking to reach one million visitors by the end of the year. India continues to be a top source market and it’s no surprise that a marketing campaign targeting Indian cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and Bangalore, has been planned. Other important source markets include the UK, Germany, Russia, Australia and France and it will be hoped arrivals from these countries increase as well.
