Sri Lanka’s ex-skipper and cricketing legend, Sanath Jayasuriya was appointed as the brand ambassador for tourism in Sri Lanka. Tours in the country are to be highly encouraged as a nation which is dependent on this sector. Therefore, he urged locals and Sri Lankans living abroad to come forward and lend a hand in stepping onto the road to recovery.
While tourism agencies like Walkers Tours are striving to uplift the tourism industry of the country, the contribution of the countrymen is of vital importance to encourage foreign travellers. He emphasised the fact that over 3 million Sri Lankans are heavily dependent on tourism, which plays a pivotal role in their livelihood and pledged his allegiance to help his motherland, via a message posted on Twitter.
