Tourists to Oman No Longer Weighed by COVID-19 Travel Restrictions – A Boost for Tourism

Oman recently removed all their COVID-19 travel restrictions with the hope of creating a more conducive atmosphere for the many visitors arriving in the country. The decision was taken on the 22nd of May 2022 and no longer requires the implementation of the PCR test requirements or the use of the country’s track and trace programme. In addition, international arrivals are not mandated to sign up for the eMushrif app, wear masks during their stay or undergo any PCR tests either before their departure to Oman or on arrival.

The measure was taken in the wake of similar moves in other destinations in the region such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia to remove their travel restrictions in the early part of the year. Being called by the World Economic Forum as being one of the safest havens in the Middle East, it is expected that Oman’s decision to ease travel restrictions will attract additional travellers to the country by the day. This includes tourists planning their next staycation as well as those on business who can stay in the heart of Oman’s capital, Muscat, at properties like Al Falaj Hotel. Apart from safe accommodation, such hotels also offer an ideal base to enjoy the many things to do in Muscat including sightseeing, dolphin watching, fishing, golfing and more.
